Our Mission

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the Newcomers Alumni is to provide a friendly and helpful opportunity for people  to continue their association with former members of the Lakeway Newcomers Club..

HISTORY

On June 3, 1964, Lakeway Yacht and Country Club (LYCC) was formed to provide social activities and facilities for its members.  In the late 1960’s and early 1980’s, Lakeway’s population underwent a rapid growth.  As our community grew, so did the task of informing new residents of available social and volunteer opportunities and of acquainting them with the area’s large and varied resources.  Stepping up to the task, LYCC sponsored a semi-annual “Newcomer Reception.”

Lakeway continued to grow from a small village where everyone knew your name to a city of over 7,500 residents in 1996.  In that year it was decided that LYCC would form a club to welcome new residents.  Sponsored by LYCC, The Newcomers Club was formed in October 1996 and interest in the Club was immediate and enthusiastic.  From the beginning, the membership of The Newcomers Club constantly expanded as new members joined every month.  It did not take too many years until the number of members had grown so large that it became difficult to find venues large enough to accommodate everyone.

To meet this new challenge, in 2004 The Newcomers Alumni Club was formed to provide a friendly and helpful opportunity for people to continue their association with former members of the Lakeway Newcomers Club.
